About

My name is Jean-Helen Robertson

My name is Jean-Helen Robertson, and I am the proud owner and operator of K and R’s Assisted Living 1 & 2 — warm, family-oriented homes in Baltimore, Maryland, dedicated to providing exceptional, person-centered care for seniors and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

With over 20 years of experience in healthcare and as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, I’ve built my career on compassion, patience, and respect. I also have college experience in social work, which I paused to care for my husband during his illness — a life-changing decision that deepened my understanding of empathy, trauma, and the healing power of compassionate care.

My journey into caregiving began from a place of deep love and personal experience. After caring for my husband until his passing in 2015, I discovered my true calling in care. That experience taught me the importance of dignity, understanding, and emotional support at every stage of life. It inspired me to open K and R’s Assisted Living, where I could extend that same love and holistic care to others in need of support.

At K and R’s Assisted Living, we proudly serve veterans, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing personalized care plans, nutritious meals, and meaningful daily activities that promote independence, mental well-being, and connection. Our services also include mental health support, addressing the complex needs of residents who may be coping with trauma, substance use, or opioid recovery — always delivered with compassion, patience, and respect.

My passion for caregiving also inspired me to launch the Connected Caregivers SMVF-Virginia Initiative, a program dedicated to supporting Service Members, Veterans, their Families, and caregivers. Through this initiative, I focus on mental health awareness, substance use education, trauma-informed care, and peer support, ensuring caregivers have the tools, resources, and community they need to thrive.

Caring for others isn’t just my profession — it’s my purpose. Every day, I’m honored to make a difference in the lives of those who once cared for us, providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and family-centered care rooted in love, dignity, and respect.
